At Alquity, our unique investment approach is based on five core belief:
Investing for the long term: We believe that a focus on long-term performance is the best determinant of a company’s true value. In general, an overriding emphasis on short-term goals will, in our view, have negative consequences both for individual companies and for the global economy as a whole.
Sustainability factors add value: We believe that environmental, social and governance issues directly affect long-term business profitability, and therefore integrate the analysis of sustainability factors into the investment process.
Absolute return approach: We focus on generating positive absolute returns and not attempting to outperform a benchmark index. This means that our stock selection process is not influenced by a company’s presence or size in a particular index, allowing the investment team the freedom to focus the resources of the fund where the most effective long-term value will be generated for shareholders.
Active investment: Many African capital markets are at a relatively early stage of development and may suffer from poor information flows and illiquidity. This means that research-driven insights and stock-specific knowledge is at a premium. We believe that active management with bottom up fundamental research is the most efficient way to profit from such market inefficiencies.
Effective Portfolio Management: The aim of the fund is to give investors a diversified exposure to the growth potential of the African markets. Investment risk will be managed through careful monitoring of sector and country exposures.
